The disease is usually diagnosable by clinical examination. Radiography is needed to confirm the diagnosis and to determine the severity of the disease.
Selective treatments
The most important point in treating Charcot is that you should not put too much pressure on your feet and limit your walking so that the bones be treated. The purpose of treatment is to prevent severe deformity or any other foot deformity.
If the patient continues to walk and put pressure on his/her foot, he/she will more and more damage their bones and the result will be severe deformity.
Treatment depends on the severity of the bone deformity diagnosed before. In severe cases, surgery may be required, but some patients may require a boot or cast.
Not pushing pressure on your feet is one of the main principles of treatment and it can take up to a year for the fractured bones to be treated completely.
The most common type of surgery used for Charcot joint disease is fusion. Often, bone grafting is needed simultaneously for faster recovery.
Diabetic foot ulcer
It is a common disorder of uncontrolled diabetes that consists of destructing the skin’s tissues and exposing the underlying layers of the skin.

All people with diabetes can grow ulcers and foot pain, but taking care of the feet can help prevent from their progress. Diabetic foot ulcer and the pain associated with them have different treatment methods according to their different causes.
One of the first signs of the ulcer is to examine your foot, because it may stain your socks or permeate into your shoes. Moreover, unusual swelling, burning, red foot and foot odor are early signs of an ulcer. The most noticeable and serious sign of a foot ulcer is the black tissues around the wound, which is due to the lack of blood flow around the wound.
Selective treatments
The main way to treat diabetic foot ulcers is to remove pressure on the foot.
Most diabetic wounds can be treated with boot or cast. Therefore, using cast by spreading pressure to the healthy locations can heal wounds. Wound healing may take between 2 to 6 months.
Surgery is necessary if the wound does not heal and symptoms of infection are present.
